Family Business Forum

FAMILY BUSINESS FORUM

Our "on-line" Family Business Forum invites suggestions and recommendations from family business owners – ideas from the family business entrepreneurs who create most of the new jobs in America.

"The politicians in Washington listen to big business, the unions, and other lobbying groups, but seldom pay heed to the needs of family businesses - the economic backbone of our country," suggests leading family business expert Don Schwerzler.

Schwerzler has been studying and advising family business entrepreneurs for more than 40 years and is the founder of the Atlanta-based Family Business Institute

"We hope our Forum will enable family businesses owners to make their opinions known, whether it be a comment on hurtful government policies & regulations or a "success tip" for other family business owners."

CHAOS BUSTERS Management Guide

We would love to hear any “Eureka” stories – that moment when an idea for a new business starts forming in the mind of an entrepreneur.

Stories about how your family business evolved from a start-up business to a generational family business are also inspiring to people who come to visit our Family Business Experts Forum.

Success tips and strategies that have worked for one business can generally be adapted to other businesses – so share, share, and share!

For instance, AI fractional executives can meet the needs of a growing family business in a cost effective and flexible way. Now a family business that could benefit from a C-level executive but where the company is not large enough to support the cost of a full timer, a fractional executive would be the answer!

If you are a family business owner who prefers a smaller more intimate platform for interaction with others, we recommend the on-line Family Business Executive Roundtable. Designed to provide family business owners a platform from which they can discuss problems and issues with other family business owners as well as experts who deal with solving those difficult and complex issues that arise out of family business dynamics.

ASK THE FAMILY BUSINESS EXPERT

Family businesses, especially at succession time, can find themselves in a minefield of problems that can hurt the business and wreck family relationships. Sharing succession planning and succession management advice with other members of our family business experts PAG could be very helpful.

Today, the out-of-control spending by governments (federal, state and local)is causing a fiscal crisis for our country and may be more of a threat to family-owned businesses than any other factor.

"For many family business owners, their strategic attention has shifted from succession to survival," says Schwerzler.

Hopefully our on-line Forum will be a platform from which family business owners can present ideas and suggestions to other family business owners.
