Family Business Mission Statements

MISSION STATEMENTS
from
FAMILY BUSINESSES

Family business mission statements - does your family business have one?

“Family business mission statements are part of the transition process as a family business evolves from being an entrepreneurial start-up, with a very informal management style, to an organization that has a more formal or professionalized style of management,” according to leading family business expert Don Schwerzler.

“Family business mission statements often reflect the personal values of the family – those values that drive the decision making process in the family’s business.”

Schwerzler has been studying and advising family businesses for more than 40 years and he is the founder of the Family Business Institute.

Based in Atlanta, the Family Business Institute was the very first multi-disciplined resource organized to deal with the unique and complex issues that confront and confuse families in business together.

Books have been published that contain samples of mission statements from a variety of businesses. But to our knowledge, there is not a compilation of mission statements from family-owned businesses.

We thought it would be interesting to start collecting samples of family business mission statements - but we need your help!

If you are involved in a family business, please take a few minutes and share your mission statement with other family businesses who visit our site. Your mission statement could be inspirational in helping other family businesses create a mission statement for their business.

Likewise, if you are a professional service provider, a vendor or a customer of a family business and would like to recognize and publicize that business – please submit the family business mission statement to our site!
