UF family finance expert gives top 10 ‘What Not to Do’ list for taxpayers

For most of our readers, the annual ritual of filing personal and corporate tax return is hanging over our heads, or has just passed.

When I was in public practice, it always amazed me that most of the problems I dealt with were not due to technically complex tax issues. They were from missing, overlooking, or deliberately ignoring some vary basic and common-sense matters.

So, when we recently saw a good article we thought it would be a good reminder and useful to share it with you. Although originating in Florida/United States, it serves as a good general reminder that will be just as applicable in Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and probably most other countries. It's not dry technical material, just some good common-sense.

And, yes, we do believe that common-sense and good business practices will still help you avoid most difficult tax situations, despite the sometimes baffling complexity of most income tax legislation!
