Haiti Help Organizations – need your help!

While the outpouring of support for the people of Haiti from the US and from around the world, has been significant, there are many organizations that can use financial contributions to help the people of Haiti in their time of need. Truly, the generosity points to the "good side" of human nature.

But the Haiti disaster also brings out the "bad side" of human nature. Already there are many scam operations set up to take advantage of the situation – taking advantage of the generosity of the people who care, who want to help.

If you want to check out a charity to better understand how effcient they are in the use of funds that they receive and to make sure the charity has been vetted, we recommend Charity Navigator.

Organizations that have been “on the ground” in Haiti long before the earthquake include:

Doctors Without Borders.

American Red Cross.

Salvation Army.

Catholic Relief Services.

Americares.

International Medical Corps.

Obviously this is only a partial list of Haiti help organizations.

We draw your attention to these agencies because they were already working in Haiti before the earthquake – they already have workers on the ground that understand the people and the problems of logistics in Haiti.
